“…They reported overall response rates (OR) in 92% and 50% of 24 and 10 metastatic nodules respectively 19 . That same year, Glass et al 75 from the University of South Florida in Tampa, USA, reported on the first study using ECT with IT Bleomycin in melanoma metastases obtaining OR rates of 92% (78% CR and 14 % PR) in 20 metastatic lesion -results similar to those obtained by the IV route in the previous studies. Later in 1998, the same group of investigators published the results of a bigger cohort of patients with a variety of cutaneous and subcutaneous malignant nodules.…”

“…Efficacy of electrochemotherapy has been reported to be independent of the treated tumour types [14,15,42,49,82,92]. Similarly, in the current review, electrochemotherapy was found to be effective for basal cell carcinoma [2,21,50,78,93], malignant melanoma [2,5,12,13,17,21,23,36,40,73,74,79,92,[94][95][96][97], cutaneous lesions of breast cancer [2,63,64,80], squamous cell carcinoma [2,21,96,[98][99][100], Kaposi's sarcoma [55][56][57], Merkel cell carcinoma [41,60,61,96,101], and other tumours. The efficacy of this method is presented in more detail in table 2.…”

“…Rudolf et al 34 published the results of the first clinical experience in melanoma patients treated with ECT and intravenous bleomycin injection, with an overall response rate of 92% in 24 metastatic lesions. Soon after this report, Glass et al 35 reported the results of an experience of ECT with intralesional bleomycin administration in five patients with 20 melanoma metastatic lesions, with an overall response of 92%, comparable to the results obtained with intravenous bleomycin. These data were further corroborated by two clinical studies 36, 37 published 2 years later and performed on a larger cohort of patients.…”
