BisGMA-polyvinylpyrrolidone blend based nanocomposites reinforced with chitosan grafted f-multiwalled carbon nanotubes

Abstract: a b s t r a c tIn this work, initially a non-destroyable surface grafting of acid functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) with biopolymer chitosan (CS) was carried out using glutaraldehyde as a cross-linking agent via the controlled covalent deposition method which was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Then, BisGMA (bisphenol-A glycidyldimethacrylate)-polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) blend was prepared (50:50 wt%) by a simple sonica… Show more

“…Multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are multiple concentric and hollow cylinders of carbon atoms . MWCNTs poses outstanding electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties . Thus, the introduction of MWCNTs into flexible thermoplastic elastomers, such as SBS, to create CPNs have been already explored .…”

“…They established that the inclusion of eggshell particles improved the heat conductivity of the base matrix. Similarly, Praharaj et al [ 15 ] used chitosan bio ceramic particles derived from marine trash to improve the heat stability of a Bisphenol A‐glycidyl methacrylate‐polyvinylpyrrolidone (BisGMA‐PVP) mix. They determined that by using chitosan and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), they were able to improve the mechanical and thermal characteristics.…”
