Bioenergy and its implication for yoga therapy

Abstract: Electro photonic imaging (EPI) is being researched relative to its application for yoga therapy. Three parameters of interest in EPI measurements are as follows: Communication energy (C), integral or normalized area (IA), and Entropy (E). It is important to note that C indicates the total energy of communication for the organ system; IA is an indication of total amount of energy that is available for the organ system while entropy is an indication of the amount of coherence of the energy. Coherence and entropy… Show more

“…In yoga, prana is described as subtle energy (life force) flowing through nadis (energy channels) which is the equivalent of qi (vital energy) in TCM meridians (5) .The meridian theory is one of the basic principles of TCM and states that qi flows through channel systems (meridians) connected to internal organs and functions (6) . Illness is ascribed to imbalance or blockage of qi in different meridians (7) .Prana cannot be measured yet, but Electro Photonic Image (EPI) measures are generally recognized to reflect the biological field and assess the subtle energy changes in meridians in the human body, which is consistent with TCM approaches (8,9) .Several studies revealed meditation (10,11) and integrated yoga practices (12)(13)(14) significantly improved the overall energy of communication, reduced the stress level, and tends to decrease the disorderliness of energy flow in the organ systems.…”

“…With reference to the above mentioned details about Marmas, in modern times, several studies have acknowledged the importance of Marmas [53][54][55][56][57][58][59][60], and several others have been conducted with regards to studying / ascertaining the location, anatomy, size, and other properties of the Marmas [17,19,20,[27][28][29][30][31][32][33]35,[61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68].…”

“…Drugs can either speed up or slow down biochemical reactions in the body by binding mainly on a receptor site to either activate (agonists) or block (antagonists) the receptor response and regain a dynamic equilibrium state [23]. It is not very clear what is the role of entropic energy in developing or curing disease, though its implication in yoga and other complementary therapies is growing [24]. Apparently, the creation of internal self-confidence can lower entropy and act as a complementary factor along with therapeutic drugs to adjust the dynamic internal balance and restore health.…”
