Bibliometric analysis of strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) research from Plant Sciences category based on Web of Science

Abstract: Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) is one of the most significant horticultural cash crops in the world. The study aimed to identify and analyse the 2,930 articles and review type papers of strawberry research from the Plant Sciences category based on the Web of Science. Papers mainly written in English (2,894, 98.771%), were from a total of 8,838 authors, 96 countries/territories, 1,845 organisations and published in 197 journals and book series. The top seven core journals are ranked as Plant Disease (25… Show more

“…Meagher RL, Omoto C, and Huang F are having bigger circles and that shows that they are connected to many authors. It is also worth noting that authors in the same clusters usually work together or are working under the same institution (Yuan et al, 2021). Authors such as Yang SJ, Huang F, and Head GP closely work together and collaborate in some research works.…”

“…The use of plant extracts and other natural compounds is considered an important tool to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides in the implementation of IPM practices [Seiber et al 2014], as well as in strategies for plant protection in organic farming as this category of products is included among the compounds allowed by the European Union legislation for plant protection of organic crops [European Commission 2021]. In particular, for strawberry (Fragaria × × ananassa Duchense), one of the most cultivated berry crops around the world with about 9.2 Mt production, and in Europe with about 1.8 Mt [Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations 2021, Yuan and Sun 2022], the management of many severe pests in an open field and greenhouse cultivation has become difficult due to recent restrictions in agrochemical use and the lack of effective alternatives.…”
