Abstract: Comparative studies about the fine-needle-cytology, imprint-cytology and histology furnished an almost complete agreement between imprint-cytology and histology. Suspected tumor findings by way of fine-needle-biopsy deserve the same place as similar histological examinations. Negative cytological results have to be critically evaluated. Fine-needle-cytology presents a quick and not too painful procedure that is both relatively free of complications and repeatable examination.
