“…The incidence of complications in pull-back BAS has been reported at 0-11%. 2,5, 13 Potential risks of the method include (1) injury to the inferior vena cava; 3 (2) embolization with latex balloon fragment after rupture; 3 and (3) thrombosis in the femoral or iliac vein after BAS in neonates with transposition of the great arteries. 14 Although the relationship between BAS and neurological complications is still controversial, BAS could be associated with multiple risk factors for thrombosis related to the vascular access and to effects of the procedure itself.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Tab. 2 zeigt auch die von uns beobachteten Komplikationen, die in ihrer Häufigkeit und Tragweite den Literaturberichten entsprechen(21, 5) und zeigen, daß es sich bei der BAS um ein nicht ganz ungefährliches Manöver handelt. Als weitere Komplikationen wurden Perforationen des linken Vorhofs und ein Pulmonalveneneinriß beschrieben.…”
