Abstract: The aim of the study was to determine the quality and quantity of siderophores produced by bacteria isolated from plants' roots. The second aim was to determine the effect of siderophores on plants growth (Festuca rubra L. and Brassica napus L.). The study was carried out using bacteria isolated from roots of: Arabidopsis thaliana L., F. rubra, and Agrostis capillaris L., growing on the heavy metals contaminated area. The chrome azurol sulfonate (CAS) test, Arnow's test for catechol siderophores, and Csaksy's … Show more

“…On the other hand, there are four groups of siderophores produced by bacteria (catecholates, hydroxamates, salicylate and carboxylates) (Rajkumar et al 2010 ), which play a vital role in the accumulation of iron from different organic materials. Common genera of siderophore-producing bacteria are Rhizobium, Arthrobacter, Azospirillum, Pseudomonas, Azotobacter, Bacillus Acinetobacter, Alcaligenes, Beijerinckia, Burkholderia and Enterobacter (Bashan et al 2014 ; Ghavami et al 2016 ; Grobelak and Hiller 2017 ; El-Nahrawy et al 2019 ; Sinha and Parli 2020 ).…”

“…For instance, some studies have been conducted in search on new siderophore producing species. Grobelak and Hiller (2017) have conducted a screening of bacteria ( Bacillus spp. and Pseudomonas spp.)…”

“…Besides the use of phyllosphere microbes for enhanced growth as well as biocontrol agent, some plant-associated bacteria helps the plant to improve phytoremediation of toxins. For example, hydroxamate siderophores producing bacteria compact heavy metal toxicity and improve the phytoremediation property in A. thaliana (Grobelak and Hiller 2017). Some endophytes provide additional functions to the host plant like drought tolerance, for example, endophytic B. subtilis strain B26 induces drought resistance to Brachypodium distachyon grass.…”
