Abstract: Bacteria cellulose (BC) nanofibers supported palladium(0) nanocomposites were prepared and fully characterized in terms of morphology, crystallinity, composition, and thermal stability. The as-prepared catalyst was further successfully explored in Heck coupling reaction between aryl halide and styrene or acrylates, with a yield over 86–96% for the first coupling reaction. With coupling yields decreased less than 10% for the fifth reaction cycle, Pd/BC catalyst exhibits great potential as recyclable catalyst fo… Show more

“…It is well-known that palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) lies in their as catalysts for low temperature reduction of automobile pollutants and for organic reactions such as Suzuki-Miyaura [15], Heck [16,17], Stille couplings [14]. They also possess remarkable performance in hydrogenation/dehydrogenation [17,18], and sensing [19].…”

“…Efforts have been made to eliminate phosphorous from this reaction. 24 Chitosan is a safe, inexpensive, natural, and biodegradable polysaccharide which is derived from animal resources such as the shells of several crustaceans, shrimp shell, fish shell and some fungi. The advantages of heterogeneous catalysts which make them valuable for the environment are having more surface areas and simpler isolation of the reaction products and recyclability of the catalyst.…”

“…Also it can easily be functionalized as soluble or insoluble support by chemical modification of its abundant hydroxyl groups. 28 However, such a coordination of palladium is relatively weak and deactivation often occurs due to leaching of the metal. 20 In Additional Supporting Information may be found in the online version of this article.…”
