Reducing the Radiation Dose During Excretory Urography: Flat-Panel Silicon X-Ray Detector Versus Computed Radiography

Abstract: With half the exposure dose of computed radiography, the flat-panel X-ray detector produced urograms with an image quality equivalent to or better than computed radiography.

However, an evaluation of images presented on hard copies as Zähringer et al [7] did in a recently published study does not exploit the full benefit of the digital technique since the ability to view and adjust image settings directly on a monitor is one of its major advantages. The image viewing tools on a workstation, such as window and level settings and zoom functions, may give even better representation of lowcontrast objects such as kidney and psoas outlines.…”
