With the growth of the popularity of large screens in the consumer market and the enrichment of the online and offline video resources, enjoying a dynamic remote scenery at home has become an interesting application. This paper presents an intelligent screen system for the user to interactively enjoy different sceneries of remote places. Different from existing works, the system is aware of the current environment, and the weather condition in the remote scenery video is associated with that of the local place in different ways to bring the user a natural and pleasant viewing experience. Meanwhile, the system is able to transform the layout of the scenery video according to the user's position and viewing angle, making the user feel like viewing the outside scenery through a real window when walking and looking around in front of the screen. A prototype consisting of a large screen and several low-cost sensors is implemented and a series of tests are conducted. The results show that the proposed system can effectively improve the users' experience on natural scenery viewing and make the process more pleasant. The system fits for screens with various sizes and can be easily installed, making it a scalable and ease-of-use consumer device in smart home 1 .

When we have to solve a specific problem, we can find various approaches and recommendations provided by individual partners. A fair competition among the partners can be reached only if there are possibilities to compare their results in objective ways. When the task relates to data processing, such an objective evaluation can be reached using ground truth through annotated publicly available datasets. Moreover, in case of available ground truth, efficient learning-based algorithms could enter the specific field. However, in several application fields such ground truth data are missing or incomplete making the participants report their results on own datasets. In this paper, we present a platform that will aid researchers in developing functional components (image processing algorithms) for specific (detection and classification) tasks by providing training data sets with ground truth/gold standard and with providing evaluation of the outputs of the algorithms in an objective manner under identical conditions on separate test data sets using standardized measures. This quantitative evaluation will allow the comparison and ranking of the algorithms with the same functionalities. Different participants will contribute datasets and data validation to the platform.

This paper presents a system that allows users to search for information about video content on a Smart TV. The proposed system has two major components: a Smart TV and a mobile device. The motion sensing interface in the Smart TV interprets gestures and requests the relevant information from the server. The mobile device displays search results using information received from the server. With the recent development of mobile visual search technology and motion sensing devices, experimental results confirm that the proposed system provides an efficient way to search for information via Smart TVs.
