Abstract:Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARgamma) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that plays a pivotal role in the modulation of gene expression involved in adipocyte differentiation and insulin sensitivity. It has been previously established that thiazolidinedione (TZD) PPARgamma ligands such as rosiglitazone have potent anti-diabetic and adipogenic activities. A novel non-TZD ligand for PPARgamma, KR62980 has recently been characterized to increase insulin sensitivity and to be weakly a…
scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and evaluate scientific articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by researchers from dozens of countries and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
