Stargazing tourism is an expanding market niche that requires the development of territorial resources for its implementation and attraction. This paper’s objective is to investigate the preferences and willingness to pay of tourists for the development of strategic land resources for stargazing tourism activities. The field work was conducted on the island of La Palma (Canary Islands), which is promoting the territorial development of infrastructures for stargazing tourism. A random sample of 734 tourists were interviewed in person on-site in December 2019 following the methodology discrete choice experiments that enabled an estimation of tourists’ preferences and willingness to pay for the implementation of key land resources for stargazing. The data are modeled using a latent class model that allows for the consideration of heterogeneous preferences. The results show that there are three groups of tourists with different preferences for land resources of stargazing observation. These segments are respectively related to the interests in culture, active, and astronomic tourism. Those tourists in the active stargazing segment share the largest proportion of the market and favor the implementation of facilities that allow the combination of active tourism with stargazing. The results are useful for land product development and territorial strategies aimed at positioning destinations in the identified demand niches of stargazing tourism.

This paper aims to analyze the evolution in the research of digital marketing tools and strategies used by inbound marketing in the main journals related to this term and related topics to the hospitality industry. The results obtained have led to detect a progressive increase in the number of publications analyzing inbound marketing tools in recent years (2010-2021), which point to the construction of a Marketing 5.0 paradigm. A high rotation of topics has also been detected, describing a dynamic and fluctuating research field. It is recommended that more research be carried out on inbound marketing (as a strategic model of structured marketing) to allow for an integrative vision of technologies, which until now have been analyzed without a defined backbone linked to the hotel business.

Astrotourism is tourism that uses astronomy as its main attraction. As astrotourism requires astronomy phenomena, it requires a location free from light pollution. As some have posited locations free from light pollution as one of the cultivating elements for maintaining sustainability, Astrotourism can be used to achieve sustainability. Sustainability can be put under the umbrella of Maqasid Syariah and halal tourism. It is thus of utmost importance to demonstrate the unique capabilities of Malaysia as a viable Astrotourism attraction and how it can help achieve the goal of sustainability, both of which are the objectives of this research. Two methods are employed in this study; the first is to identify potential Astrotourism sites using the dark sky database, light pollution mapping and Garstang formulation of light pollution. The second method is comprised of identifying the cultivating elements of sustainability. Through this method, three potential Astrotourism sites could enhance the notion of sustainability, including sustainability from the economic, wellbeing and biodiversity aspects and, more importantly, sustainability towards the holistic practice of Islam. This demonstrates the encompassing benefit of Astrotourism towards sustainability and its development potential in Malaysia.
