Association ofCDH11with ASD revealed by matched-gene co-expression analysis and mouse behavioral studies

Abstract: Genetic variants of a large group of susceptibility genes have been associated with similar clinical manifestations of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), suggesting convergent function of these genes during brain development. Gene co-expression analysis has emerged as an important tool to identify convergent molecular pathways shared by ASD risk genes. In this study, four gene features, including gene size, mRNA length, mRNA abundance, and guanine-cytosine content, were found to profoundly affect gene co-express… Show more

“…The Cdh11 knockout mouse has been previously shown to exhibit behaviors that are similar to autism phenotypes (Horikawa et al, 1999;Wu et al, 2020). The significant downregulation of CDH11 in autism-specific NPCs prompted us to use the Cdh11 knockout mice as a model system to examine potential pathological phenotypes during neural circuit development and their underlying mechanisms in autism.…”

“…We used a modified apparatus to examine the social behaviors [79]. The apparatus [40 (H) × 60 (L) × 20 (W) cm] was divided into three chambers (20 cm long for each chamber) made from white Plexiglass.…”
