Assessment of the Possibility of Hydrometallurgical Processing of Low-Grade Ores in the Oxidation Zone of the Malmyzh Cu-Au Porphyry Deposit

Abstract: The geochemical features of the ores present in the oxidation zone of the gold-copper Malmyzh mineral deposit are characterized. This deposit is located in the the Nanaian region of the Khabarovsk Territory in the Russian Federation, and a technological assessment of ores present was carried out. The initial gold content in the oxidized ore is 0.1–1.2 ppm, and the leachability of gold from different size fractions by hot cyanide revealed the fact that the ore is not refractory and characterized by increased cy… Show more

“…Hydrometallurgy is an important technique used in mineral processing to obtain pure metal from ores. The hydrometallurgical route commonly involves ore leaching, solvent extraction (SX), and pure metals' electrowinning [1][2][3]. SX is a technique with several advantages, it is a continuous operation, efficient, high production, low cost, and employs of simple equipment to recover valuable elements from impurities [4,5].…”

“…Modern technologies have developed cycles of ore preparation operations, the main of which are: -X-ray radiometric separation, auto-and semi-autogenous grinding; -cascades of gravitational devices, finishing rough concentrates, methods of magnetoelectric and electronic separation, flotation processes; -various methods of chemical leaching (heap, vat, autoclave, sorption, bacterial, "coal in pulp"); -methods of gold precipitation from leaching solutions (sorption-extraction, electrolysis), electrolytic refining and many other specific methods of processing ores, concentrates, mineral materials; -pyrometallurgical processes of processing gold-bearing ores, concentrates and non-ferrous metal products [4][5][6][7][8].…”
