Assessment of Chemical Composition of Grain Crops Depending on Vegetative Stage for Feeding

Abstract: The following grass: Brоmus inеrmis, Elytrígia bluish, Agropyron pectiniforme that are widely used in diets of ruminants were gathered and assessed for contents of Dry Matter (DM), Crude Protein (CP), ash, crude fat, Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF), Acid Detergent Fibre (ADF), lignin, hemicellulose, Crude Fiber (CF), nitrogen-free substances. Samples of grain crops were assessed. The samples were taken within earing phase, flowering period, seeding in intact plant and in separate vegetative parts (n = 10). Dry m… Show more

“…The crude protein, total minerals, NDF, ADF, and hemicellulose in the grass tissues are required for ruminants. These contents in the two growth phases were similar (Table 3), and components, such as the NDF and ADF, were not statistically different from the components of other common herbage used for cattle diets found in a previous study [25].…”

“…Analysis methods are standardised at the international and interstate levels (GOST ISO 13906-2013, 2013; GOST ISO 16472-2014, 2014). In Russian Federation, some forages and forage grasses were also examined by the level of acid-detergent fiber (ADF) and NDF in the conditions of the Moscow, Kaluga, and Orenburg regions (Vorobyova, 2002;Kharitonov et al, 2008;Levakhin et al, 2015) and Tatarstan (Bykova and Gibadullina, 2010), studies were carried out to study the digestion in bull calves (Levakhin et al, 2007;Bykova and Gibadullina, 2010) and cows (Kharitonov and Khotmirova, 2009) depending on the content of structural carbohydrates in the diet. However, there is still insufficient information on the levels of ADF and NDF in different types of forage grasses, depending on the phase of vegetation and other conditions.…”

“…Since the end of the last century, the evaluation of feed and rations for the content of detergent forms of fibre in them has become widespread throughout the world. In the Russian Federation, some forages and forage grasses were also studied by the level of ADF and NDF, for example, in the conditions of the Moscow, Kaluga and Orenburg regions (Vorobyova, 2002;Kharitonov et al, 2008;Levakhin et al, 2015) and Tatarstan, studies have been conducted on digestion in bull calves and cows depending on the content of structural carbohydrates in the diet. The content of NDF in feed tables is also given (Kirilov, 2009).…”
