“…PNI reflects the nutritional and immunological aspects of patients simultaneously because it is based on the peripheral lymphocyte count and serum albumin levels. [22] Studies have proven that lymphocytes and serum albumin are both independent prognostic risk factors of cancer patients. [23,24] Hypoalbuminemia or lymphocytopenia was the reason of low PNI.…”

“…In turn, these cytokines are markedly decreased by treatment with ruxolitinib, while HSA levels are increased 15,16 . Recently, HSA level has been suggested as an independent indicator for prognosis in MF patients uncorrelated with cytogenetic or mutation profiles 17,18 . HSA and serum cholesterol levels were used to develop a new cachexia index further enhancing prognostication in MF 19 .…”

“…These could indicate worse nutritional status or higher inflammatory atmosphere and were shown to be predictive of inferior survival in myelofibrosis independently of each other and DIPSS [34]. Thus, numerous pathophysiologic processes modulate TSAT and are reflected in its reduction.…”
