Aiming to enrich the knowledge about the flora of savannas, this paper studied the composition and structure of the bryophyte community of Park Savanna areas in Marajó Island -PA. Biological material was collected within 60 100-m 2 plots equally distributed in the dry season of 2016 and the rainy season of 2017 in five Park Savanna areas (SP-I to SP-V). The composition, density, richness and diversity of species and presence of indicator species were compared between the sampled areas and seasons.The species were classified according to the substrates colonized and ecological groups of light tolerance. Significant differences in SP-V indicated that the area was the main factor influencing the composition of bryophytes (p: 0.0001), with five indicator species.There were also significant differences in density (p = 0.0001168) and richness (p = 0.0001317) of bryophytes between seasons (p-value = 0.3393; p-value = 0.04065; p: 0.1081).There was a predominance of generalist (25 spp.) and corticolous (728 individuals) species, which were widely distributed in the sampled areas. Therefore, the structure of the bryophyte communities was not influenced by seasonality, and this indicates that these plants are adapted to the environmental conditions.

Several studies have reported the relationship of deforestation with increased incidence of infectious diseases, mainly due to the deregulation caused in these environments. The purpose of this study was to answer the following questions: a) is increased loss of vegetation related to dengue cases in the Brazilian Cerrado? b) how do different regions of the tropical savanna biome present distinct patterns for total dengue cases and vegetation loss? c) what is the projection of a future scenario of deforestation and an increased number of dengue cases in 2030? Thus, this study aimed to assess the relationship between loss of native vegetation in the Cerrado and dengue infection. In this paper, we quantify the entire deforested area and dengue infection cases from 2001 to 2019. For data analyses, we used Poisson generalized linear model, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, non-parametric statistics, and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) models to predict loss of vegetation and fever dengue cases for the next decade. Cluster analysis revealed the formation of four clusters among the states. Our results showed significant increases in loss of native vegetation in all states, with the exception of Piauí. As for dengue cases, there were increases in the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Mato Grosso. Based on projections for 2030, Minas Gerais will register about 4,000 dengue cases per 100,000 inhabitants, São Paulo 750 dengue cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and Mato Grosso 500 dengue cases per 100,000 inhabitants. To reduce these projections, Brazil will need to control deforestation and implement public health, environmental and social policies, requiring a joint effort from all spheres of society.

As briófitas podem ser utilizadas como bioindicadoras, no entanto, uma das limitações desse uso são as lacunas no conhecimento sobre a ocorrência das espécies. Assim, o presente estudo teve como objetivo realizar a modelagem de nicho ecológico para Helicodontium capillare (Hedw.) A.Jaeger e Thuidium tomentosum Schimp., duas espécies de musgos bioindicadores. Os dados de ocorrência das espécies foram obtidos na plataforma Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) e SpeciesLink. As variáveis bioclimáticas foram coletadas do WorldClim 2.0. Para selecionar as menos correlacionadas foi realizada a análise de correlação de Pearson. A modelagem foi feita utilizando os algoritmos Generalized Additive Models, Gaussian Process, MaxEnt, Random Forest e Support Vector Machine. Usando os melhores modelos foi gerado um modelo consenso. A validade dos modelos foi testada utilizando a métrica True Skill Statistic (TSS). Os resultados indicam que as duas espécies apresentam maior adequabilidade ambiental em ambientes com alta precipitação principalmente em países industrializados da América Latina à exemplo do Brasil e Colômbia. Além disso, as áreas de maior adequabilidade também correspondem à grandes centros urbanos com altos índices de poluição. Portanto, essas espécies podem ser utilizadas como bioindicadoras nessas regiões, auxiliando assim no processo de identificação e gestão do problema.
