“…Furthermore, an overall failure rate of 14.1% in patients with a BDDH who underwent arthroscopic surgery was similar to that in patients with DDH who underwent PAO, 6 and this was remarkably lower than that in patients with frank DDH who underwent arthroscopic surgery and had a failure rate of up to 59%. 2,25,28 These comparisons indicated the reliability of arthroscopic intervention for BDDHs.…”

“…40 Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) can lead to multiple conditions, such as labral lesions, chondral damage, 25 and early-onset hip osteoarthritis (OA). 4 Currently, periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) is the gold-standard 8 treatment for those without advanced OA 19,28 ; however, the indications for PAO are still in dispute 2,28 in patients with a borderline developmental dysplastic hip (BDDH) with mild acetabular undercoverage. Because the pathological changes of soft tissue, not the abnormalities of osseous structures, are considered the direct causes of symptoms 16 in BDDHs without OA, hip arthroscopic surgery has been performed and has shown comparable results.…”
