ARCS: Active Radar Cross Section for Multi-Radiator Problems in Complex EM Environments

Abstract: In order to analyze the scattering properties in multi-radiator problems, the active radar cross section (ARCS) concept is proposed under complex electromagnetic (EM) environments. The corresponding calculation methods and formulation are proposed by incorporating the monostatic radar cross section (RCS) concept with external disturbances. By introducing the phase characteristics into the ARCS concept, the coherent problems can be accurately solved. Through analyzing the external disturbance and the radar wave… Show more

“…Figure 6B shows its experiment environment. 18 The wave with a center frequency and bandwidth of 1.5 and 0.5 GHz, respectively, propagates from the left of the structure. The entire domain has the dimensions 0:7 Â 0:7 Â 0:25 m. The PEC box dimensions are 0:6 Â 0:6 Â 0:2 m. The dipole antenna length is 0.05 m. The antenna is excited at the bottom.…”

“…RCS reduction of antenna has always been a research hotspot [ 18 , 19 , 20 ]. Furthermore, it is meaningful to improve the radiation and scattering performance of the antenna simultaneously [ 21 , 22 , 23 ]. CPFTA has great potential applications in military fields, so it is valuable to design it with the integrated control of radiation and scattering.…”

“…As a uniquely configured aircraft, the tandem helicopter has the advantages of heavy load, small space size and high hovering efficiency, which makes it widely used in transportation, passenger transportation and rescue tasks. Hence, studying the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of tandem helicopters has important academic significance and engineering value [ 1 , 2 , 3 ].…”

“…For the solution of the radar cross-section (RCS) of aircraft targets, many research methods and work have been presented, including the method of moment (MOM) [ 1 ], physical optics (PO) [ 4 , 5 ], flight testing [ 6 , 7 ] and physical theory of diffraction (PTD) [ 8 ]. The combination of the fact-based asymptotic method and the geometrical optics (GO) and PO hybrid method is used to calculate the RCS of a large target [ 9 ].…”
