“…The first excavations were carried out in 1965/66 on the Colle Serpente, in the area of San Rocco, and in the large necropolis of the Cimitero Vecchio (Tinè Bertocchi 1985). Later archaeological activities concentrated on various zones on the Colle Serpente hilltop (Fabbri & Osanna 2002; 2005; Fabbri et al 2003; Larcher & Defranceschi 2012; Larcher & Müller 2008; Osanna 2008), at Valle Castagna, close to San Rocco, where a small rescue campaign was carried out (Corrente & Liseno 2010) and, in particular, in the area of the Giarnera Piccola, to the southwest of the present-day village, where Austrian archaeologists have conducted extensive investigations (Laimer 2016; Laimer & Larcher 2006; Larcher & Laimer 2010a,b; 2013; Figs 3a & 3b).
