“…Accordingly, the high cytotoxic selectivity towards the MDA-MB-231 cells was attributed to the effective permeation of the AS1411-modified gated NMOFs into the MDA-MB-231 cancer cells followed by their efficient unlocking by the VEGF biomarkers expressed inside the cells, resulting in the release of the DOX chemotherapeutic drug.
