Apply Scorecard Method to Measure Indicators of Smart Growth Principles (An Applied Study on the Residential Project R3 - The New Administrative Capital)

Abstract

Urban sprawl is one of the phenomena of the twenty-first century, which caused the spread of urban fabric in large areas and the emergence of a lack of public transport services, which led to dependence on cars, and low reliance on walking, cycling and. The erosion of the green areas and agricultural lands. This has directly influenced the quality of urban life, and development has become a major concern around the world. Which led to the emergence of ideas and trends of modern, including smart growth. Therefore, the research addresses the identification of smart growth as a concept and principles, and show its role as a tool to achieve urban sustainability. A common measurement method will be identified to determine the application of smart growth in some cities. This method is known as performance cards to measure the extent to which indicators of smart growth principles are achieved. Will be applied to one of the urban projects being prepared in Egypt, the residential valley project R3 in the new administrative capital.
