Application of zinc oxide nanoparticles as feed additive in broiler chicken nutrition under hot environmental conditions

Abstract: Nanotechnology has the potential to use in poultry production with new tools for the enhancing the ability of poultry to absorb nutrients and therefore improving growth performance, nutrient digestibility and productive performance of poultry. The essential trace elements play important roles such as nutrients metabolism, antimicrobial and antioxidant. Numerous studies have already used the effects of zinc sources at lower and higher doses on productive performance of broiler chickens. Most of these studies sh… Show more

“…Moreover, zinc is the second most abundant trace element to reduce the adverse effects of heat stress in poultry [19,36] due to its involvement in numerous metabolic and physiological processes [37]. Among its many functions, zinc can contribute to the performance, meat quality, and carcass traits in broilers [38], the regulation of the immune system, oxygen-free radical scavenging, and antibacterial activity [36,39]. Similarly, zinc supplementation decreased both the detrimental symptoms of cold and heat stress [40].…”

“…Nobody antibodies are involved in this cellular immune response mediated by cytokines and antigen‐specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes against antigen activation; instead, it occurs through the interaction between phagocytes and natural killer cells (Erf, 2004). Some evidence suggests that low weights of thyme and savoury treatments in chicken treated with nano‐silver may reflect the antibacterial effects of these ingredients and thus influence the microbial environment in the caecum of the chicken (Ahmed et al., 2023). In addition, as the amount of nano‐silver, thyme and savoury in dietary intake increased, the number of lymphoid organs decreased (Saki & Salary, 2015).…”

“…Nutritional interventions have contributed to high growth of broiler production during recent decades in India and there is huge demand for broiler meat and vast scope for broiler industry. Zinc is an important nutrient for animals, which can act as antioxidant, glandular development, poultry performance, protein and carbohydrate metabolism and cofactor in more than 300 metalloenzymes (Hussien et al, 2021). It promotes growth and act as antibacterial agent, modulates the immunity and reproduction of the animals (Asheer et al, 2018).…”
