Application of the Impact Test to Predict Coated Tools' Cutting Performance in Milling Inconel 718

Abstract: Aerospace alloys possess a low machinability and the application of convenient machining conditions, tool and coating materials are of crucial importance for achieving a satisfactory tool life. [1][2][3] Specifically, Inconel 718 has high strength, work hardening and dynamic shear strength at room and elevated temperatures. On the other hand, this important alloy is characterized by low thermal diffusivity in combination with high reaction with tool materials, leading to increased tool cutting loads and temper… Show more

“…Additionally, the film yield stress and the rupture stress course versus the temperature were calculated and are presented in Fig. 2c [5]. According to these results, the film elasticity modulus amounts to 580GPa and remains unaffected by the temperature.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Working conditions are affected directly by the temperature; thus Bouzakis et al [134] proposed a methodology based on theoretical and experimental tests to predict the performance of a coated cutting tool. The properties of PVD film, like fatigue strength and impact resistance at room and elevated temperatures with different cutting conditions such as cutting forces and feed were examined.…”

“…This has led to the choice that for many practical impact problems, the conditions are such that the size of the impacted structure (target) in the direction of impact is much larger than the size of the projectile. Applications are in the field of adhesion of the coating layers testing [13][14][15][16]. In terms of the behaviour of the target material in the contact zone, several impact wear mechanisms have been highlighted [17,18].…”
