Application of Dental Pulp Stem Cells for Bone and Neural Tissue Regeneration in Oral and Maxillofacial Region

Abstract: In the oral and maxillofacial region, the treatment of severe bone defects, caused by fractures, cancers, congenital abnormalities, etc., remains a great challenge. In addition, neurological disorders are frequently accompanied by these bone defects or the treatments for them. Therefore, novel bone regenerative techniques and methods to repair nerve injury are eagerly sought. Among them, strategies using dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are promising options. Human DPSCs can be collected easily from extracted te… Show more

“…Through the exploration of the complex subtleties of an individual's genetic makeup, dentists can interpret particular genetic markers, susceptibilities, and predispositions that impact oral health and the capacity for regeneration. The abundance of genetic knowledge enables the creation of exact treatment plans tailored to the unique requirements and complexities of every patient [54]. It gives dental professionals the ability to precisely plan regeneration therapies, guaranteeing the best possible results while lowering the possibility of unfavorable effects or complications [55].…”

“…Severe oral and maxillofacial bone defects pose significant challenges in terms of treatment. DPSCs may be suitable for regenerative therapy, but further understanding, optimization, and safety considerations are needed [ 25 ]. DPSCs are advantageous due to their ease of access, high extraction efficiency, and versatility.…”
