Application of a Probabilistic Method Based on Neutrosophic Number in Rock Slope Stability Assessment

Abstract: The stability of natural rock slopes is influenced by a wide spectrum of factors, such as mechanical properties of bedrocks and spatial distribution of discontinuities. Their specific values are typically incomplete, due mainly to the lack of effective and comprehensive methods to accurately characterize these factors, especially those inside of the slopes. The neutrosophic number is a useful tool to solve problems in indeterminate environment. This study introduces the neutrosophic theory into slope stability… Show more

“…Since NNs are used to effectively describe the indeterminacy factor in the assessment of slope stability, Li et al [50] proposed vector similarity measures in the NN environment as an indeterminate analysis method for the rock slope stability assessment. The evaluation method of slope stability based on the vector similarity measures solved the defect of some existing numerical analysis methods that require a large amount of data, and then the evaluation method can be more suitable for the stability analysis of some rock slopes with limited geological data.…”

“…In the construction of mountain housing, transportation, mining, water conservancy and hydropower projects, rock slope stability problems are inevitably encountered (Li et al, 2019;Du et al, 2022;Yi et al, 2022;Zhao et al, 2022). Rock slope stability problems can cause geological disasters such as rock loosening, relaxation cracking, creeping, landslides and rock fall Meng et al, 2021;Xu et al, 2022).…”

“…In general, an earthquake causes permanent damage to the slope and secondary damage results from rainstorms after the earthquake [16]. The rock slopes formed by the bedding structures of fractured rocks disturbed by human activities and subjected to heavy rainfall are liable to a loss of stability [17]. The damage of high bedding rock slopes by flood discharge of atomized rain was studied based on the slope in the Baihetan Hydropower Station.…”
