Apparent ileal amino acids digestibility of diets with graded levels of corn DDGS and determination of DDGS amino acids digestibility by difference and regression methods in broilers

Abstract: This study was conducted to determine apparent ileal amino acids digestibility (AIAAD) of diets with different levels of corn distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and to determine AIAAD of corn DDGS by difference and regression methods in broiler chickens. One hundred and fifty 30-day-old male broiler chickens were used in the experiment. The corn DDGS were incorporated into basal diets at graded levels (0, 4, 8, 12, and 16%). All birds were killed at the age of 35 days and the contents of the lower h… Show more

“…Arguably, the destruction may well occur in the soluble components of DDGS, such as the reducing sugars (Batal and Dale 2006;Soares et al 2012). The low amino acid digestibility is evident for amino acids that are present in smaller amounts in DDGS (Lys, Met) (Foltyn et al 2014). In formulating feedstuff including DDGS, attention must be paid to Lys level and/or digestible Lys level and only high quality DDGS should be used.…”

“…Kim et al (2009) recorded low standardised ileal digestibility of all the indispensable amino acids in corn-DDGS in comparison to soyabean meal in pigs. In broiler chickens, apparent ileal digestibility of Lys and Met was reduced with corn-DDGS inclusion in diet (Foltyn et al, 2014). Amino acids in DDGS are known to be less digestible to chickens causing their deficiency when DDGS is used in diet (Stein et al, 2006).…”

“…The results showed that the apparent digestibility of corn DDGS is beneficial to Silurus Glanis, and 30% DDGS can be added into the Silurus Glanis' diet without affecting the growth performance and nutrient utilization of Silurus Glanis [115]. Determination of the effect of different levels of corn DDGS feed on broiler amino acid digestibility showed that higher levels of DDGS could reduce broiler amino acid digestibility [116]. Some scholars have used a combination of alkaline and enzymatic methods to extract cellulose from corn kernels and DDGS.…”
