“…Previously, one small study reported no association between cfPWV progression and HOMA ( 19 ), but HbA 1c has been associated with progressive carotid artery stiffening in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study ( 37 ), although, unfortunately, cfPWV was not assessed. In the current study, cfPWV increased by ∼0.7 m/s, which is consistent with previous longitudinal studies, which have reported increases of between 0.2 and 0.6 m/s per 5 years in participants aged ∼60 years ( 18 , 20 , 24 ).
