Antioxidant potential and chemical characterization of bioactive compounds from a medicinal plant Colebrokea oppositifolia Sm

Abstract: Colebrookea oppositifolia is a highly used medicinal plant and an enriched source of essential oils. Therefore, the present study was designed with the aim to extract the chemical constituents and to evaluate its antioxidant potential. Fresh plant parts were subjected to the extraction of volatile chemical constituents by maceration using n-hexane as the menstruum. The resulting n-hexane fractions were purified and then subjected to GC-MS and FTIR analysis. In-vitro antioxidant abilities were evaluated by, DPP… Show more

“…The FTIR analysis of the chemically synthesized AgNPs revealed that methyl, carboxyl, Si–OR, COO − N–H groups were attached with AgNPs (Figure 4a,b). The use of FTIR spectroscopic techniques for the nondestructive analysis of biological specimens is a rapidly expanding research area (Azam et al, 2020; Ishtiaq et al, 2020; Rubab et al, 2020).…”

“…The thorough quantitative analysis of phytochemicals using GC-MS studies reveals the presence of all components such as flavonoids, sterols, fatty acid and esters in the sample [5]. GC-MS analysis is also helpful in the determination of the chemical composition, area and molecular weight of the samples [6,7].…”

“…In the modern era, the use of scanning electron microscopic study (SEM) has revolutionized bioscience and its various branches, which provides the opportunity to explore consistent features to determine plant taxa, as well as information about the anatomical, palynological and ecological significance of different plant groups (Ali et al, 2020; Ashfaq et al, 2018; Bahadur et al, 2018; Gul et al, 2019; Ishtiaq et al, 2020; Retamales & Scharaschkin, 2015). Pollen morphological characteristics are essential to determine the relationship between species, which can be applied to distinguish species from one another that have similar in physical appearance.…”
