Abstract: Antimycobacterial Benzofuro[3,2-f]chromenes from a 5-Bromochromen-6-ol. -Some benzofurochromenes like (VIII) are prepared by etherification of the chromenol (III) and subsequent cyclization. Derivatives (VIIIb) and (VIIIc) show antimycobacterial activity. In the presence of K2CO3, (III) undergoes unprecedented rearrangement to the chromene (IV).
