“…This is an important concern, given the increasing prevalence of resistant Propionibacterium acnes, 8 and the effects of antibiotic use for acne on resistance in other commensals 25 and the development of respiratory-tract infections. 26 Our finding that oral tetracyclines were the most commonly prescribed oral antibiotics is consistent with guidance. 6 There is good-quality evidence supporting the use of benzoyl peroxide and topical retinoid alone or combined with a topical antibiotic, and these agents are recommended in guidelines.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Longer duration of topical or systemic antibiotic treatment in acne vulgaris was reported to be associated with increased staphylococcal colonization in skin and mucosal floras pursued by antibiotic resistance and serious skin or internal infections due to resistant strains. [22][23][24] However, S. aureus carriage in nasal and oropharyngeal floras was not detected whereas faecal colonization with ESBL positive E. coli was found to be insignificant in the antibiotic-treated group, in this study. Previously, antibiotic induced alterations in bowel flora have also been studied extensively with variable results.…”

“…Once a patients' body site was colonized with resistant bacteria, it may become stabilized and may persist for a long time regardless of the treatment procedures. [1][2][3] Knowing that alterations in the microbial colonization of the flora regions may precede an infectious disease and bacterial resistance, 11,18,24 the findings of our study present considerable background to propose that alteration of these floras due to isotretinoin treatment for acne vulgaris can provide a source of resistant bacterial infections. For this reason, treatment options and follow-up procedures in acne vulgaris should be carefully determined to reduce the risk of destruction of the microbial flora.…”

“…10,11 We did note a pOR of 1.57 (95% CI, 0.50–4.90) for sore throat among patients exposed to oral antibiotics. This finding was not statistically significant, but the effect estimate was similar to that in our previous studies.…”
