[6][7][8] There are documented increasing rates of TRUSBx infectious complications, which have been attributed to an increase incidence of FQ-resistant bacteria, mainly due to Escherichia coli. 4,5 Aside from the patient morbidity and mortality associated with infectious complications, hospitalizations for the treatment of such complications can be costly.…”

[6][7][8]10 Our institution has observed several hospitalizations secondary to infectious complications at our facilities. To decrease rates of hospitalization after TRUSBx, our institution, which consists of a large private and academic urology group serving a diverse population across 2 states, implemented a different antibiotic prophylaxis protocol in September 2011 based on previously observed resistance patterns, recently published literature, and the local antibiogram.…”
