Anti-Müllerian hormone: a critical factor for female fertility and reproductive health

Abstract: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a glycoprotein produced by the granulosa cells of preantral and small antral follicles. AMH concentrations reflect ovarian physiology with high precision, thus serving as a more sensitive marker of the ovarian reserve than chronological age. This hormone plays a role in the pathogenesis of menstrual disorders and fertility in both obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome. The evaluation of AMH may also be useful in diagnosing or monitoring therapy of granulosa cell ovarian tumors.

“…The (GnRH) antagonist regimens and low initial gonadotropin doses are recommended. It's also crucial to bring women to fertility treatment clinics as soon as possible so that they may select the best treatment option for them [23]. Letrozole has become a key weapon in our arsenal for treating infertility, but it has received relatively little attention in terms of improving its efficacy [24].…”

“…In both the left and right endothelial growth factors, the size of follicles that matured into mature oocytes increased significantly (p = 0.000) on pelvic ultrasonography. Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF) and (VEGF) were not raised in infertile women before treatment when compared to infertile women before treatment, table (4).…”

“…As mentioned previously, AMH research in adolescents predominantly focuses on populations with preexisting conditions related to sexual maturity, hormones and fertility [10][11][12]14,20,25,26 and, though limited, research on AMH and growth and maturation has typically evaluated sexual characteristics [27][28][29] .…”

“…У женщин АМГ продуцируется непосредственно гранулезными клетками [4] преантральных и ранних антральных фолликулов диаметром до 6 мм и служит отрицательным аутокринным и паракринным регулятором фолликулогенеза. АМГ ингибирует дифференцировку покоящихся примордиальных фолликулов и ослабляет чувствительность растущих фолликулов к ФСГ, в частности, ингибируя активность ароматазы [5], однако точные механизмы данных процессов остаются в значительной степени неизвестными [6].…”
