“…The intensity of dithranol inflammation is higher in non‐lesional skin than in psoriatic plaques, 16 and dithranol‐induced inflammation occurs characteristically only in the perilesional area. It has been shown that the activity of thioredoxin reductase is much higher in psoriatic plaques compared with non‐lesional skin, suggesting that this enzyme is inducible, 17 and therefore thioredoxin reductase might well be responsible for the induction of dithranol tolerance.
