Abstract: Investigations of the growth of anthers and ontogeny of pollen grains of Oryza sativa (rice) IR‐30 were undertaken for the purpose of 1) providing a set of growth measurements and 2) describing stable cytological features of anther and pollen development. Correlations exist between elongation of the floret and growth parameters of the anther such as its length, width, fresh and dry weights and cytological stage of pollen development.
