Deltamethrin (DLM) is a synthesized organophosphorus acaricide and bug spray, broadly utilized for veterinary and farming purposes. Although its exposure to humans and animals causes toxicity in the kidney and other primary organs, our objective was to assess the defensive effects of sitagliptin (Sita) and additionally curcumin (Cur) in the DLM‐intoxicated rats’ kidney. DLM‐intoxicated rats revealed a huge increase of various biochemical parameters in serum identified with kidney damage: uric acid, urea, and creatinine. DLM intoxication altogether increased renal lipid peroxidation, and critically restrained antioxidative biomarkers including superoxide dismutase, glutathione, and glutathione peroxidase. Likewise, it increased the tumor necrosis factor‐α, interleukin 6 (IL‐6) and IL‐1β level in serum. Additionally, DLM intoxication diminished the outflow of the nuclear factor (erythroid‐derived 2)‐like 2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase‐1 (HO‐1) pathway in rats. Both Sita and Cur act against DLM‐prompted serum along with renal tissue biochemical parameters when utilized alone or in a mix alongside DLM intoxication. Besides this, both Sita and Cur delivered synergetic nephroprotective, antioxidative, and anti‐inflammatory impacts. Consequently, it could be presumed that Sita as well as Cur administration can limit the poisonous impacts of DLM by their free radical‐scavenging, strong antioxidant, and Nrf2/HO‐1 pathway upregulation activity.

This study was conducted to evaluate the possible protective impact of Chlorella vulgaris (C. vulgaris) on liver tissues of adult male albino rats intoxicated with deltamethrin (DLM). Thirtytwo adult rats were divided into four equal groups. The control group was orally administered 0.5 mL normal saline once daily for eight weeks. The second (Chlorella group (CV)) and third (Deltamethrin group (DLM)) groups, were orally received 50 mg C. vulgaris powder/kg BW and deltamethrin 3 mg/kg BW once daily for eight weeks respectively, while the fourth group was orally received CV and DLM together, with the same previous mentioned doses and duration. DLM treated group induced a significant elevation of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities. Liver oxidant/antioxidant status was altered due to DLM intoxication. Meanwhile, C. vulgaris powder normalized the changes of ALT and ALP activities. Moreover, it improved oxidant/antioxidant status of the liver related to DLM intoxication. C. vulgaris supplementation could overcome the DLM-induced hepatotoxicity through eliminating the oxidative tissue injuries.

Brain damage is a major complication of fulminant hepatic failure. d‐Galactosamine (d‐GalN)‐induced liver toxicity causes damage to brain. The effects of vitamins and selenium mixture against d‐GalN stimulated brain injury were investigated in this study. Sprague‐Dawley female rats aged 2.0‐2.5 months were used for the study. The rats were divided into four categories. A 0.9% NaCl solution was intraperitoneally given to the experimental rats in the first group. Using gavage technique, the second group of animals were subjected to a formulation consisting of 100 mg·kg−1·day−1 vitamin C, 15 mg·kg−1·day−1 of β‐carotene, 100 mg·kg−1·day−1 of α‐tocopherol in addition to 0.2 mg·kg−1·day−1 of sodium selenate for 3 days. The third group was given a single dose of d‐GalN hydrochloride at the concentration of 500 mg·kg−1 through a saline injection. The final group was given similar concentrations of both the antioxidant combination and d‐GalN. Tissue samples were collected under ether anesthesia. The rats treated with d‐GalN showed brain damage; increased myeloperoxidase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione‐S‐transferase, lactate dehydrogenase, and superoxide dismutase activities; and decreased glutathione levels. Treatment with vitamins and selenium combination resulted in alleviation of these alterations in the rats. These findings suggest that administration of the vitamins and selenium combination suppresses oxidative stress and protects brain cells from injury induced by d‐GalN.
