“…Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophiiia (ALHE) however, was reported in 1969 as a lesion similar to EGST (20). The eonsensus today seems to be that both EGST and ALHE are the same entity (21)(22)(23)(24)(25)(26). Some authors have claimed that there are suffieient and significant differences in the elinieal and pathologieal aspects of these two diseases (18,19).…”

“…Emphasis should be made in its differential diagnosis with angiosarcoma [1,5,11], systemic proliferating angioendotheliomatosis [12], papular angioplasia [14], intravenous atypical vascular proliferation [8], angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia [7] and atypical pyogenic granuloma [13].…”

“…These blood vessels are accompanied by a variable infiltrate of inflammatory or reactive cells including eosinophils and in some cases well formed lymphoid follicles. The cases described by Wells & Whimster (1969) as subcutaneous angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia and by Wilson-Jones & Bleehen (1969) as pseudo or atypical pyogenic granuloma, are thought to be part of the same disease spectrum (Mehregan & Shapiro 1971). The relationship of AHE to cases reported from China as eosinophilic granuloma of lymph nodes and soft tissue (Chang & Chen 1962) and from Japan as eosinophilic lymphofolliculosis of the skin (Kimura's disease) (Kawada, Tokahashi & Anzai 1965) and eosinophilic granuloma of soft tissue (Takenaka et al 1976) is less certain (Rosai, Gold & Landy 1979).…”

“…These authors suggest that the changes in the endothelial cells may be evoked by vasoactive amines from mast cells that were prominent in their cases or by serotonin from platelets. 1969, Kandil 1970, Mehregan & Shapiro 1971Castro & Winkelmann 1974 suggests that a Type I hypersensitivity reaction might have provoked this inflammatory reaction. In this respect it is noteworthy that two of the patients reported by Saxe & Kahn (1977) and our patient had asthma suggesting that AHE may be more prevalent in atopic individuals.…”
