Anaplastic large cell lymphoma associated with breast implants. Importance for the surgeon

Abstract: Breast implant-associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is an infrequent disease, although the number of cases has increased in the recent years. BIA-ALCL is revealed during medical screening as an increase in the mammary volume due to periprosthetic effusion or as a capsular mass. Preferred treatment for BIA-ALCL is surgery, with explantation of the prostheses and exeresis of the periprosthetic capsule. Prognosis, after early diagnosis and adequate treatment, is good.
