Analyzing the seismic attributes, structural and petrophysical analyses of the Lower Goru Formation: A case study from Middle Indus Basin Pakistan

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to delineate the structures of the Lower Goru Formation, investigate fluid properties, and clarify the hydrocarbon-prone areas through seismic attributes analysis. First, the acquired data was matched by the interpretation datum. Structural analysis was done by performing horizon interpretation, fault interpretation, and contour mapping on the C-Interval of the Lower Goru Formation. Hydrocarbon zones were marked with the help of attribute analysis on seismic sections and were ju… Show more

“…After training the classifier at the well location, lithofacies discrimination was propagated using velocity and density cubes derived from pre-stack simultaneous inversion. The velocity and density cubes are usually extracted from pre-stack simultaneous inversion (Tounkara et al, 2023).…”

“…21 There is more preservation of oil and gas in the voids of rocks with greater porosity, whereas permeability defines the capacity of rocks to transfer fluids. 22 These two types of reservoir parameters are determining factors for reserve estimation and oil or gas production. 23 Based on similarities and dissimilarities among groups, the purpose of cluster analysis is to categorize log records into groups that are outlying externally and analogous internally.…”

“…A given facies is generally associated with a particular environment of deposition. , Among the steps for well planning decisions, reservoir characterization is the essential one, and estimation of physical parameters, including porosity and permeability, is the basic requirement in the characterization workflow . There is more preservation of oil and gas in the voids of rocks with greater porosity, whereas permeability defines the capacity of rocks to transfer fluids . These two types of reservoir parameters are determining factors for reserve estimation and oil or gas production …”
