Abstract: The 9.4 GHz electron palamagnetic resonance (EPR) of Gd3+ doped in CeF, and LaF, single crystals is studied a t temperatures of 120 to 293 K. The g-values and linewidths of the Gd3+ spectra in the Kramers host Ce3+ ions are compared with those for the isostructural diamagnetic G3+ lattice. The observation of resolved Gd3+ spectra in the presence of paramagnetic Ce3+ ions is interpreted in terms of a random modulation of the interaction between the Gd3+ impurity and Ce3+ host ions by rapid spin-lattice relaxat…
