Analysis of Partial Power DC–DC Converters for Two-Stage Photovoltaic Systems

Abstract: Two-stage photovoltaic (PV) configurations have become increasingly popular due to the decoupling between the inverter dc-link voltage and the PV voltage, adding flexibility to extend the maximum power point tracking range. However, the additional dcdc converter increases the power converter losses. The concept of partial power converters (PPCs), which reduce the amount of power handled by the dc stage, can mitigate this effect. However, the type of topology, its power and voltage rating, efficiency, and an op… Show more

“…The levy function is used in CS to determine the step size of each particle in each and every iteration. The mathematical derivation of Levy is derived as, Lvy(βeta) = L −βeta ; 1 < βeta < 3 (16) where L is the length of the step size and βeta is an operating constant. In practical, the βeta is considered as either one or three.…”

“…Furthermore, with the selection of the inverter stage and modulation, as traditional transformer-less PV inverters, a proper grounding of the PV system can be achieved [10]. The PPC configuration based on a step-up operation has been already addressed in several works for different applications [11][12][13][14][15]. Focusing on PPC for microinverters PV applications, the most relevant works are found in [16][17][18][19].…”
