In a study of 31 VATER patients, 45% of the patients showed postnatal growth deficiency of at least −2 SDS for the first 3 years of life or beyond [24]. Severe cardiac defect was correlated to the growth deficiency in nine patients, but no cause for the growth deficiency in the other patients was noted.…”

Mapstone et al [1986] evaluated 31 patients and noted the almost half had postnatal growth deficiency, with severe heart defects being the only significant correlation. However, the majority of patients had normal growth or when growth delay was present, it was of postnatal origin.…”
