Analysis of disaster resilience of urban planning facilities on urban flooding vulnerability

Abstract: Rainfall continues to increase due to the influence of global warming and is resulting in an increase in flood damage. The purpose of this study is to propose an approach for reducing urban flood damage and improving urban resilience. Urban flooding vulnerability analysis used land use and building characteristics as evaluation indicators. Disaster resilience analysis of urban planning facilities focused on urban and spatial aspects. The results of these analyses were overlapped to analyze whether urban planni… Show more

“…Park K proposed a method to reduce urban flood damage and improve urban resilience, taking land use and building characteristics as evaluation indexes for urban flood-vulnerability analysis. Disaster resistance can be improved through proper land-use planning and urban planning-facility selection [ 98 ]. Understanding the changing laws of urban flooding is of great significance to reduce and adapt to flood risk [ 35 ].…”

“…The concept disaster resilient city aims to develop the urban resilience, the ability to overcome natural disasters particularly climate change that the urban areas face. Resilience is the ability to reduce the impact, damage, or stress inflicted on a city and the ability to recover the city to its previous or better state (Park et al, 2021 government is holding the legislative power by the country's Disaster Management Act (Malalgoda et al, 2013).…”

“…Re-planting and restoration of degraded mangrove areas considered for mitigating flooding and erosion in the lagoon and the coastal areas in the vicinity of coastal cities during hurricanes and storms while supporting nesting and reproduction for fish and birds. Land use planning under the disaster resilience of urban planning can minimize the damage caused by increased flooding in urban areas (Park et al, 2021 Transition from unutilized urban land to urban forest in Sri Lanka attempts to assure cities with urban green tree cover and provide environmental services by promoting the capacity of ecosystems.…”

“…Consequently, cities worldwide are now more vulnerable to urban flooding (Hassan, Nile & Al-Masody 2017;Park, Oh & Won 2020). In Indonesia, the increasing number frequency of floods was recorded for the past decades, and Java Island had the highest number of floods in 2019, as reported by The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB 2020).…”
