Analysis of cyclic prefix length effect on ISI limitation in OFDM system over a Rayleigh-fading multipath

Abstract: <span>In this work, the influence of the cyclic prefix on the performance of the OFDM system is studied. We worked out an OFDM transceiver using a 16 QAM modulation scheme, a comparison of the BER for various lengths of the cyclic prefix has been achieved, and the influence of the noise introduced in the channel has been highlighted, for both a Gaussian and Rayleigh noise. The simulation was carried out on MATLAB where the curves of the BER for various lengths of the cyclic prefix are given and compared.… Show more

“…A method for preventing channel fading called STBC comprises generating codes at the transmitter and encoding them somewhere at the receiving end. In today's communication world, all aspects of wireless transmission are moving at a faster rate, with the high carrier frequency transition and channel moving even faster [7], [8]. CSI estimation in a time-varying channel has become a challenging task.…”

“…The simulation advantages of this technique have erroneous limits when the noise ratio is sufficient. The EKF is used to calculate the temporal correlation coefficients and CIR [8] as they change over time. Rauch-Tung-Striebelsmoother (RTSS) could be used to smooth out EKF calculations, improving channel estimation accuracy.…”

“…Fourati et al [26] considers modern concepts for self-organizing cellular networks applied to 5G. Evaluation of the impact of ISI on the quality of OFDM signal processing is considered in [27]. Promising antenna systems for 5G are considered in Mattera and Tanda [28], the problems of network optimization and coding in them are studied in the articles [29], [30].…”

“…In [13], it analyzes the bit error rate (BER) performance of discrete cosine transform (DCT)based OFDM and compares it to discrete fourier transform (DFT)-based OFDM to determine which modulation scheme performs better. In [14] The cyclic prefix's effect on the OFDM system's performance was investigated. The BER for different lengths of the cyclic prefix was compared using an OFDM transceiver equipped with a 16-QAM modulation method, highlighting the effect of channel noise.…”
