“…Our analyses also showed a closer relationship between the species Pyrophorus divergens and Fulgeochlizus bruchi . A similar result was also shown by luciferases sequences analysis, with high support value , and by morphologic studies . However, only a few genera were used in this analysis, and other taxa are necessary for more detailed analysis.…”

“…. Our data showed two distinct clusters, corresponding to luminescent and non‐luminescent groups inside the subfamily Agrypininae, as suggested by Rosa . The first, represented by luminescent species of the Pyrophorini tribe, seems to be more derived than the second, represented by a non‐luminescent group.…”

“…This use of ‘Pyrophorus’ as an auctorum may be due to the heightened difficulty of classifying Elateridae ( Costa, 1975 ). The genus Ignelater is characterized by the presence of both dorsal and ventral photophores ( Costa, 1975 ; Rosa, 2007 ). An unreviewed report suggested that the adult I. luminosus has a ventral light organ only in males ( Reyes and Lee, 2010 ).…”

“…An unreviewed report suggested that the adult I. luminosus has a ventral light organ only in males ( Reyes and Lee, 2010 ). Phylogenetic analyses based on the morphological characters suggested that the genera Ignelater and Photophorus (which contain only two species from Fiji and Vanuatu) are the most closely related genera in the tribe Pyrophorini ( Rosa, 2007 ). The earliest fossil of an Elateridae species was recorded from the Middle Jurassic of Inner Mongolia, China ( Chang et al, 2009 ).…”
