Objetivo: Identificar os efeitos do programa de reabilitação pulmonar (PRP) sobre os fatores de risco cardiovascular e de mortalidade em portadores de DPOC. Métodos: Avaliamos 26 portadores de DPOC antes e após oito semanas de Reabilitação Pulmonar (RP), através de volumes pulmonares pela espirometria, Teste de Caminhada de Seis Minutos (TC6), índice tornozelo braquial (ITB), além das avaliações antropométricas, variáveis hemodinâmicas e índice de sobrevida. Resultados: Dos 26 pacientes, 76,9% (n=20) apresentaram estadiamento da DPOC grave ou muito grave. Constatada correlação significativa entre BODE e ITB pré PRP (p=0,03; r=-0,41) com redução significativa do BODE entre o pré e pós PRP (p=0,03). Não houve diferença significativa nas variáveis cardiovasculares analisadas: ITB, RCQ, DP, FC, PAS, PAD, CC, RCEst e mVO2 entre o período pré e pós PRP, bem como na capacidade funcional avaliada através do TC6. Conclusão: Foi evidenciada redução do risco de mortalidade após PRP nos portadores de DPOC.
