“…For example, it has been demonstrated that dynamic 18 F-FET PET parameters have a high prognostic value in newly diagnosed low-and high-grade glioma (14,15). In secondary cerebral neoplasms, a few PET studies on pretreated brain metastases are currently available and have assessed the value of amino acid PET for the differentiation of recurrent disease from radiation-induced changes after radiotherapy (13,(16)(17)(18)(19). A recent study compared the tumor volume of partly untreated brain metastases in 18 F-FET PET and MRI, but there were criticisms regarding the methodology of that study (20,21).…”

“…The LNR of 11 C-MET PET revealed a sensitivity and specificity of 70-80% for the differentiation of brain metastasis recurrence from radiation-related effects (31). A higher diagnostic accuracy was shown by Grosu et al, with 11 C-MET able to differentiate tumor tissue from treatment-related changes with a sensitivity of 91% and a specificity of 100% (63). Using 18 F-FET PET, the detection of tumor recurrence/progression was even more accurate, with a sensitivity and specificity of 100% and 93%, respectively, compared with 93-and 50% for MRI alone (73,78).…”

“…Also, when FET-PET was compared directly with MET-PET in 42 patients with gliomas or brain metastases, the 2 imaging agents provided comparable diagnostic information. 113 FDOPA-PET also was compared with MET-PET in patients with primary brain tumors or brain metastases and, similarly, yielded comparable diagnostic information. 114 FACBC has been studied primarily in prostate cancer, in which it had higher sensitivity for tumor detection compared with 111 In-capromab pendetide (Prostascint) and 11 C-choline.…”
