Abstract: While having the potential to significantly improve heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system performance, advanced (e.g., optimal, robust and various forms of adaptive) controllers have yet to be incorporated into commercial systems.Controllers consisting of distributed proportional-integral (PI) control loops continue to dominate commercial HVAC systems. Investigation into advanced HVAC controllers has largely been limited to proposals and simulations, with few controllers being tested on physi… Show more

“…The torque responds according to the equation of motion, which shows the electromagnetic speed regulation process ( Figure 12); otherwise, it exhibits a horizontal line as well. Considering the load characteristic in (17), the actual speed and torque responses do not show simple information. Figure 12 shows that the torque curve has acceleration and callback processes; after 0.2 s, the torque stabilises at 19.6 ⋅ 2 , which is less than the rated load torque of 22 ⋅ 2 .…”

“…Anderson et al [17] built an experimental system for HVAC control and obtained some ideal results. Qu et al [18] proposed a multilayer feed-forward artificial neural network based on a Back Propagation (BP) algorithm and used MAT-LAB implements to design and train an energy consumption prediction model of a micro urban building.…”

“…Many studies have analyzed different control strategies for individual air-conditioning equipments [11][12][13][14]. This paper focuses on the evaluation of different control strategies that can be implemented in the developed ECMS for HVAC split devices installed in premises of the UPV developed in order to get an optimal strategy to apply throughout the whole University.…”

“…Some researchers have presented computer models based on laboratory data. Anderson et al (2007) established models of a blower, mixing box, boiler, water flow damper, heating coil, and the overall system, and presented a multi-input multioutput robust controller for an experimental HVAC system. Simulating a typical existing HVAC system, and Nassif (2010) experimented with various damper control strategies, such as three-coupled damper control, two-coupled damper control, and split-signal control, and showed that the selected split control strategy had a significant effect on fan performance and energy use.…”
