An efficient photocatalyst based on H5PMo10V2O40/UiO-66-NH2 for direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol by H2O2

Abstract: To realize the direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol by hydrogen peroxide, an efficient photoactive catalyst system was prepared by the recombination of H5PMo10V2O40 and UiO-66-NH2.

“…A comparison of the catalytic activity of Fe 2 -PMo 11 V 3 with several previously reported POM-based heterogeneous catalysts in the presence of H 2 O 2 is shown in Table 4. [55][56][57][58][59][60] The phenol yield of Fe 2 -PMo 11 V 3 (16.2%) was higher than those of most of the POM-based catalysts presented in Table 4.…”

“…[28][29][30][31] Due to their special structure, POMs have excellent photoactivity, strong acidity, and redox ability. [32][33][34][35] Unlike traditional Keggin-type polyacids H 3 PW 12 O 40 or H 3 PMo 12 O 40 , molybdenum vanadates (PMo 10 V 2 ) containing mixed metals and valence states can perform fast, reversible multi-electron transfer reactions, making them a good choice as photocatalysts. In recent years, POMs, as a hot spot, have attracted the attention of researchers.…”

“…Photocatalytic processes have attracted attention as "green" alternatives because they can activate benzene molecules using light as an energy source and convert them to phenol under mild reaction conditions. [14][15][16] Several photocatalysts have been developed for benzene oxidation to phenol by oxidants, including H 2 O 2 and O 2 .…”
