An Efficient Nanocatalyst Cobalt Copper Zinc Ferrite for the Thermolysis of Ammonium Nitrate

Abstract: This work reports synthesis and catalytic effect of cobalt copper zinc ferrite (CoCuZnFe 2 O 4 ) on the thermal decomposition of ammonium nitrate (AN). AN is a crystalline hygroscopic powder widely applicable as an oxidizer in the propellant formulations for high energetic materials but requires improvement in its thermal decomposition characteristics. Nanocatalyst spinel ferrite CoCuZnFe 2 O 4 was prepared using the coprecipitation method and characterized by various physicochemical instrumental techniques li… Show more

“…[4][5][6] Therefore, the improvement of combustion performance by optimizing the thermal decomposition temperature, heat release, activation energy, and reaction rate of AP has received considerable attention. 7,8 Nanocatalysts have become an integral part of CSPs as an effective strategy for signicantly enhancing the thermal decomposition performance of AP. 9 The most widely used nanocatalysts for AP pyrolysis include transition metal oxides (TMOs), 10,11 two-dimensional nanocarbon materials, 12,13 organic nanomaterials, 14,15 and modied TMOs.…”
